I joined the faculty at Queens College in 2007, was tenured as an associate professor in 2013, and was promoted to full professor in 2018. Prior to joining the Queens College community in 2007, I was a postdoctoral associate at the University of Albany and a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University. I obtained my PhD from Clark University in Massachusetts in 2003.
My lab focused on three main areas of interest: 1) Virus ecology and evolution; 2) Single cell studies of gene expression; 3) Urban metagenomics.
