Here we report detecting increasing frequencies of novel cryptic SARS-CoV-2 lineages not recognized in GISAID’s EpiCoV database. The source of these cryptic lineages is mysterious and we hypothesize they may be coming from an animal or from persistent infections of immunocompromised patients. Read the article here.
